Do you know the lifespan of the marketing content you create?

Here’s a visual explanation of why it probably feels like your social media marketing efforts aren’t actually paying off, based on actual data from my work as a marketing consultant for the past 10 years.

Organic Reach of Content by Platform and Format

Data collected from 62 social media accounts over 7 years, rounded to the nearest thousand.

There’s a measurable difference in performance between evergreen content (like a blog post, YouTube video, or Pinterest pin) vs social media content (like a reel or post). Sometimes the short lifespan of a social media post is worth the impact those views have, but more often than not, that type of content marketing is just busywork.

For example, if your story takes 20 seconds to post, reaches 200 people, and results in 20 new email subscribers or 5 consultations, that’s a pretty good result!

But if your carousel posts or reels take 2 hours per week to create and seem to bring a couple hundred new viewers to your account and perhaps earn you a new subscriber or two… with no measurable change in your email subscribers and no new consultations booked…

This would indicate that your marketing strategy isn’t working.*

*Unless your goal is to become an influencer / creator paid for the number of subscribers you get. The Funnel Edit is not recommended for influencers! We work with artists and service providers who get paid directly by their customers, not by brands based on their social following.

This doesn’t mean you need to re-invent the wheel, though. It also doesn’t mean you need to hire a $10,000 business coach or join a $297/month group program to “level up your mindset” or learn how to “start running Facebook Ads for $5/day.” Evergreen marketing is a LOT more accessible than you think. Let me show you…

Hi, I’m Vera.

I’m a queer neurodivergent writer living on the Oregon coast and The Funnel Edit is the strange little marketing business I built.

Honestly, marketing is just the thing I do to keep the things I actually love afloat. (Reading, writing, loving my two dogs, and doing my best to single-handedly keep my favorite local shops afloat in the off-season.)

I have a chronic illness, so time is really precious to me.
I’m also autistic, and I’m a survivor of domestic violence. I deeply value peace and privacy, and I don’t like the way social media marketing impacts my nervous system. If you can relate, you’ll probably love The Funnel Edit.

What I do isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme or a bunch of gilded lies. It’s insurance and support for real people who do work they’re genuinely proud of, and who rely on their businesses in order to get through life.

I built The Funnel Edit from a guest bedroom at 30 years old… living on food stamps and electrolytes without a job or a car… because even after years in the business, when shit it the fan in my personal life, I wasn’t prepared. (I always knew evergreen marketing was useful, but I never prioritized getting mine set up. I was so busy with clients that it stayed on the back burner until it was too late.)

In 2026, I got sick. Like really sick. And I stayed sick for most of the year. I was hospitalized and had to go through minor surgery. I went through multiple rounds of antibiotics and was put on medications I’m told I’ll have to stay on for the rest of my life.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I also got cheated on.

And I was laid off.

And I lost a loved one.

It was everything, all at once.

For a while, I was afraid my life would never recover from the fall. But it did. And, gently now, I’m back.

The way I approach marketing is smart and effective, but it’s also a safety net. It’s a way of continuing to reach new clients and customers regardless of your availability. I hope you never need it the way I have this year, but if things ever get really hard, I want you and your business to be okay because of what we’ve created.

That’s what The Funnel Edit is all about, and that’s why I hope you’ll make the decision to introduce evergreen marketing strategies into your business. The Funnel Edit is here to help, whether it’s with free content (I hope you’ll share with others!) or through paid products and done-for-you services. I say a lot on this website that free consultations are something I enjoy offering, and I mean it. They’re one of my favorite ways to make an impact, and I love hearing what people are doing with their businesses whether they hire me or not, so please don’t be shy. Book some time with me, and let’s talk about your approach to this wild journey of entrepreneurship!

Warmly from my favorite coastal forest,

You’ve scrolled an awfully long way now...

so I’m guessing you’re actually curious about this evergreen marketing thing. It’s okay if you’re skeptical. I’ve had some awful experiences with marketing pros too, so I get it. But you’ve made it this far, so I’m hoping you’ll give The Funnel Edit a chance.

Give me 15 minutes. Check out the free video I made and see if you’re into this. It’s free, and you don’t have to give me your email to access it.
